About Me

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

The most common question we've all been asked since the moment we could talk. In my case, at the ambitious age of five, I would answer, "A mountain climber and part time NASCAR driver".

...and I wasn't afraid to get up and close with nature either.
I mean, do you see that dragonfly?

Now that I'm essentially a quarter through my life, and only a little over ten years away from the horrifying age of thirty, that question gets a little more real than I would like it to be.

My name is Amber Bintz, and I am a writer, an aspiring author, and now, a blogger. I write for a lot of reasons, but mainly, to keep my sanity (and let the world be entertained at the same time). I've been writing as long as I can remember, whether it was my spin-offs of Eric Carle books when I was a kid, or when I'd enter in contests in late elementary school and middle school, or even when about halfway through high school, I realized I wanted to take a more serious route and write my first novel, which I am still working on currently. Writing is my escape from the crazy, and often frustrating realities of life; it's the one place when it's okay to be a mess, or not have it all together. It's the one place that has always been home to me.

Me Now
...and I still love nature just as much as I used to.
(Still me)

Anyways, I had always been tentative about sharing my writing with others, especially when I got into writing my novel, Wingless. I was so horrified that my writing wouldn't be good enough, that no one would understand it. The only one who I would let read any of it, was my best friend since first grade, Jessica, who always had encouraged me along the way. During my first year of college, another one of my best friends, Nate, had insisted that I start sharing my writing. As he said, it was the only way to get out there and get better at taking constructive criticism and advice that I would be dealing with later if I wanted to try and get my book published. Through the encouragement of them as well as many of my other friends and family, I am finally making my writing public on Quarter-Life Crisis. And it's about time.

Other than writing, I am self-taught in playing guitar, and on occasion, I will pick up my violin as well. I was in orchestra for 8 years and wouldn't have traded it for the world. Kraly, (Technically Mr. Kraly, but no one says the Mr. part) my orchestra teacher in high school, was one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. He pushed my skills and was there for me as a friend too, always on the ready to listen. I don't even think it's possible to count the amount of people's lives he helped change for the better.

Kraly and I

Other random interesting facts about me? My two favorite types of music are on totally different pages: Rock and Folk. I listen to a ton of other music a lot of people haven't heard of, so check out my music page here. I've been on mission trips to St. Louis MO, Salyersville KY, Winnebago NE, and Philadelphia PA, and all of them have helped me learn so much, and I'm sure you will get the chance to hear more about them later. I am severely obsessed with Pinterest, so feel free to follow my Pinterest boards. I love reading, naturally, because it's fuel for my writing. I like cooking and baking a lot as well as watching FoodNetwork religiously so I can cook even more food. That seems to be all I can remember about me right now (according to a Buzzfeed quiz, I have the memory of a goldfish...) but hopefully you enjoy my Quarter-Life Crisis and realize that you aren't alone on this crazy journey!

Love always,
Amber
